Ingredients
1 ½ cups flour
½t salt
½ cup Crisco (half a stick, see above photo)
5-7T very cold water
½t salt
½ cup Crisco (half a stick, see above photo)
5-7T very cold water
What To Do
Mix flour and salt in a medium bowl. Cut Crisco using a dinner fork until all the flour is blended in to form pea-sized chunks. Sprinkle with water 1 tablespoon at a time.
Toss lightly until the dough forms a ball. Wrap with plastic and refrigerate overnight.
On the next day, (i.e., pie-baking day), flour rolling surface and rolling pin lightly. Roll into a circle enough for a 9” pie plate. Lay out on the pie plate and pinch edges.
Bake the crust beforehand if your pie recipe requires it.
