simple tomato spaghetti sauce

This is one of the most recent additions to our cooking rotation. It's from Cooking Light, and the kids practically drink it. Full and flavorful by itself and a company-worthy meal when paired with Spaghetti Meatballs.

1 big can of diced tomatoes
4-5 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1t red pepper flakes
1-3t sugar
Splash of olive oil
Hawaiian salt, to taste
Fresh basil, cut into ribbons
Parmesan cheese

Dump tomatoes into a food processor or blender and process until it's almost smooth. Heat olive oil in a pan and cook garlic and pepper flakes, but do not let the garlic burn. Pour in tomatoes, and adjust to taste with sugar and salt. You will use more sugar than salt, but add the sugar slowly. Let sauce thicken a little.

Pour onto cooked pasta and toss. Sprinkle with basil and parmesan.
