fresh flavored whipped cream
UPDATED

Picture
Fresh whipped cream is one of the easiest things in the world to make. All you need are a Kitchenaid mixer, heavy whipping cream, a little powdered sugar and 5 minutes. But what happens when think about is like shave ice and add some flavors? Spanking-good whipped cream. Here are my faves.

Maple Whipped Cream

I tried maple sugar with mixed results (see blog) Instead, add a little maple syrup. Serendipity!

Orange Creamsicle Whipped Cream
Orange-tangerine juice, plus a little vanilla Torani syrup. This one's good, but gets runny after a few days. Best eaten immediately.

Strawberry-Guava Whipped Cream
Strawberry-guava frozen juice concentrate plus heavy cream. It's Hawaii's Own love, really and truly.
Lychee Whipped Cream
Lychee juice plus heavy cream. It can be hard to get lychee juice, but it is well worth it.

Eggnog Whipped Cream
If you use low-fat eggnog, it will take a little longer, but be patient. It pays off.

1 cup of heavy whipping cream
Maple--1-2T maple syrup, err on the side of less.
Orange Creamsicle--a little less than 1/4 cup of orange-tangerine juice, 1-2T of vanilla syrup
Strawberry-Guava--About half the can of juice concentrate
Lychee--About 1/4 cup of lychee juice, fresh if you can get it
Eggnog--A little less than 1/4 cup of eggnog, about 1t of vanilla extract and a bit of powdered sugar to taste

Pour heavy whipping cream and selected flavor into a bowl.

Use hand mixer or Kitchenaid and whip away until peaks form. Taste as you go. I like whipped cream to be a little less sweet, so adjust your proportions accordingly.

NOTES:
1) Finished fresh whipped cream will look as on the left. This particular version is eggnog.

2) Fresh whipped cream is best eaten as soon as it is made. It will keep overnight, but after that will start to get gross and drippy. All the more reason to eat it all!
