plime shave ice

Plums are the Bay Area equivalent to Hawaii's mangoes. Like mango season in Hawaii, lots of people have plum trees and plums ripen en masse, and you have to figure out ways to use a lot of them. Quickly.
Since the watermelon shave ice worked out so well, and I had a ton of rapidly ripening plums, I figured this would work. However, it still needs some tweaking. Plum skin is very, very sour and so is lime juice.

Peel and seed plums. Dump them into a bowl and don't worry if the fruit is squishy. Put any solid pieces into the food processor. Pulse until smooth, about the consistency of applesauce. Squeeze lime juice in and stir. Add in brown sugar and stir.
Pour into a 9 x 9 glass pan and freeze for about an hour. Take it out--it should be only partially frozen. Using a potato masher, break it up a little bit, so it's getting slushy. Toss it back into the freezer for about another hour. Repeat the breaking up with a potato masher and serve.

NOTES:
1. Definitely more sugar! 1/3 - 1/2 cup.
2. A potato masher works better than a whisk
